Food access is just as important as being able to access medical care during a pandemic. Here are some resources in the 51st Senate District.

A growing list of Farms, Farmer's Markets, and Farm Stands in New York can be found here: https://agriculture.ny.gov/farming/farmers-markets

Farmers Markets and Farm Stands are considered an essential service and continue to remain open. General guidelines are to keep customers separated from the food products until purchased. When shopping at a Farmers Market or Farm Stand it is recommended that you wear personal protection including face masks and gloves, and that you maintain at least a 6ft social distance from other shoppers.

Our restaurants don't just provide jobs to many in our community but they also provide a sense of place, and through this difficult time we need to support them just as much as they support us every year. Many of your local restaurants are still open and offering delivery or curbside pick up. Supporting these restaurants now will ensure they'll still be open to welcome you back inside when this crisis is over.

SNAP Benefits

SNAP is the supplemental nutrition assistance program that is federally funded and administered by the state. You can apply on the NY state website: https://www.ny.gov/services/apply-snap

While you cannot purchase food online using your SNAP card, many farmer's markets and stands accept SNAP benefits and can get you the fresh, local food you need to maintain your health and wellness -- no matter your income level.
